Empowering Independence: HealthMax Teams up With Second Harvest Heartland

At HealthMax, we’re deeply committed to our mission of empowering individuals to maintain their independence and dignity within the comfort of their own homes. Last week, we took another step towards fulfilling this mission by volunteering at Second Harvest Heartland, a Minnesota-based food bank dedicated to combating hunger in our communities.

The statistics provided by Second Harvest Heartland paint a stark picture of the reality faced by far too many of our neighbors. It’s alarming to know that 1 in 6 Minnesotans experienced food insecurity in 2021, including 1 in 11 kids who lacked regular access to proper nutrition. Seniors, the backbone of our communities, are also among the fastest-growing group of food pantry visitors.

These numbers remind us that hunger knows no bounds—it affects individuals from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, or socioeconomic status. As a home healthcare company, we recognize that many of the individuals we serve may also be grappling with food insecurity, alongside their health challenges.

By volunteering at Second Harvest Heartland, our office staff had the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors in need. Together, we packed onions and contributed to the essential work of ensuring that families across Minnesota have access to nutritious food.
